DR Director Cameron Davies joined the presenters line-up for yesterday’s industry update on The Spit master plan. Held at the iconic Sheraton Mirage, the presenters spoke about the enquiry by design process, engagement, consultation and current options for the Spit. Kerry Doss, Deputy Director General of the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning chaired the session. Our project team colleague John Gaskell described the framework of the master plan approach and key considerations for the planning response. Cameron Davies expanded on the detail of the seven key precincts. AIA Qld Chapter President Paul Trotter, David Uhlmann of AILA, Paul Burton of PIA and Rod Barry, Chair of the Gold Coast chapter of Engineers Australia, represented industry for the panel discussion. An engaged audience produced some great questions.
The Queensland Government released an options report on The Spit last month, identifying 72 options across seven precincts. Community consultation on the options report closes on 25 November. View the master plan options report here.
