Katy Moir, Northern Territory Studio Lead
Katy Moir is an Architect with over a decade of experience working in the Northern Territory. After earning her Bachelor and Master of Architecture from the University of Queensland, she worked with Troppo Architects for four years before establishing her independent practice in 2017. Based in Gulmerrogin (Darwin), Katy prides herself as being a local expert, with her work centred on community representation and the elevation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices.
In 2024 Katy was awarded the AIA NT Emerging Architect Prize “in recognition of her broad reaching contribution to society through leadership, strategy, and generosity in her pursuit of the democratisation of architecture.”
Katy’s experience spans public art, performing arts, local government, heritage and research, blending architecture with creative activism. Her work is driven by a commitment to inclusivity and social change, with a particular focus on deconstructing the colonial influences within her practice and the systems in which architecture operates.
By creating engaging, meaningful spaces, she aims to democratise architecture, making it more accessible and representative of diverse communities. Katy continues to push boundaries through her leadership in community-driven design.
