Lara Damelian is a Graduate of Architecture at Deicke Richards, working within multidisciplinary project teams to design, document, and deliver projects primarily across education and social housing. With a background that combines formal training and several years of hands-on experience, she brings a thoughtful, creative, and detail-oriented approach to her work, supported by strong design capability and a growing technical foundation. Lara enjoys being part of a practice that balances creativity with social purpose. She values Deicke Richards’ relaxed, supportive culture and the opportunity to contribute to projects that make a meaningful difference in communities. Lara aims to bring clarity, care, and creativity to each project, contributing design ideas that enrich the user experience and support high-quality outcomes.
Before joining Deicke Richards, Lara gained experience across a range of residential, commercial and community projects through her work with DFJ Architects in Byron Bay and Sullivan Skinner in Brisbane. Earlier, she contributed to an installation for the IMA Gallery’s Alternative Economics exhibition through her internship with Five Mile Radius, repurposing reclaimed building material into functional, future-use furniture. These experiences shaped her interest in materiality, housing and mixed-use typologies, explored further in her Master of Architecture thesis Coastal Dwelling, which examined how medium-scale housing in coastal regions can better respond to place and identity.
Lara is a former competitive surfer; her travels on the world circuit taught her discipline, hard work, and took her all around the world. She is motivated by architecture that is responsive, grounded and generous, enhancing daily life while protecting the character of the places people call home.
