Sharing with Friends breaks new ground at Darra

Over the weekend the Sharing with Friends Foundation held a sod turning event upon receiving Building Approval for their first co-housing project in Darra.

It was a chance for the extended team to celebrate the significant milestone, including the five future residents, the Sharing with Friends Board, Deicke Richards, OwnitHomes, Minter Ellison Lawyers, UQ Institute of Social Science Research, lenders and donors, Zonta, and friends and family members.

Community members and neighbours also attended the event, including Local Councillor Sarah Hutton, to provide a chance for the new residents to get to know their future community and build connections. It was a fantastic event filled with joy and optimism, and it was great to see the friendships formed between the first five residents already, and the sense of security and companionship their new home will offer them.

Following the event, Eloise and Julia facilitated a workshop with the future residents to run through furniture layouts, operational strategies, and finishes.
