DR is proud to have contributed to The Spit draft master plan, released by the State Government yesterday.
As design managers and urban designers, DR has worked with John Gaskell Planning Consultants and Aspect Studios as the project’s lead consultants.
The State Government has described the draft plan as a blueprint which will preserve and enhance the green space north of Sea World, creating Australia’s newest and largest Ocean Park. The draft master plan identifies seven precincts and sets aside 140ha of the Spit’s 201ha for park activities.
The master plan project is being led by the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning in collaboration with the City of Gold Coast and the Gold Coast Waterways Authority.
In its work on the plan over the past year, DR has used the enquiry by design process extensively to consult with the community and client representatives.
In a joint statement with the Premier yesterday, State Development Minister Cameron Dick described the master plan as being designed “by the community for the community”.
